Overview

Spend spring semester as a student at Scandinavia’s oldest university. The gorgeous college town of Uppsala is yours to explore and experience with courses in English or Swedish.

Details

Requirements and cap: Sophomore status and a 2.50 GPA. Preference is given to students enrolling in courses within Uppsala’s School of Arts.  Courses in other fields (Natural Sciences, Business, etc.) are not guaranteed by the exchange agreement. Due to the unique schedule of Uppsala’s calendar, this program is recommended for full year or Spring semester only. The program cap is 6 students per year.

Fields of study: Most fields of study are available, with particular emphasis on Humanities

Budget and fees

Augustana fees: Augustana tuition

Other expenses: Airfare, housing in Uppsala (arranged with U.U.), meals, visa fees and discretionary spending. Estimated out of pocket cost is $7,500 or $2,500 more than a semester on campus.

Financial aid: All financial aid applies as if on campus. Augie Choice eligible for juniors and seniors.

Courses

Students attend Uppsala University and may combine study of Swedish with coursework in English in a variety of fields. Students accepted into the exchange are guaranteed seats in courses offered by the School of Arts (Liberal Arts) and may also request seats for coursework in other fields, though they may not be guaranteed. Some recent courses offered in the School of Arts include:

Students have also successfully petitioned in recent years for courses in the Faculties of Social Sciences, Science and Technology, Theology and Languages.

Housing

Housing is not included in the Augustana fees, but is arranged through Uppsala’s Housing Office. Typical housing is in shared apartments with private rooms and shared living space.
