Honors String Quartets

Strings

Each year, four first-year students are chosen to form one of the honors string quartets. These quartets rotate through a coaching team composed of string faculty who assist with performance opportunities, choosing appropriate repertoire and ensuring the quartet has the resources needed to reach its goals.

The quartet musicians develop greater knowledge of their instrument and strong listening habits, and also learn how to navigate the communication and coordination involved in contracted, paid performances. In addition, the quartets enjoy special opportunities such as masterclasses and performances by visiting professional string quartets, off-campus concerts, healthy playing seminars, and more.
