The My FIRST Passport Award is a grant to assist first- and second-year students obtain a passport. Having a passport can open new opportunities for students to explore the world. Students who have a valid passport have an easier time studying abroad, traveling abroad for research, attending professional conferences abroad, and much more.

Augustana receives $50,000 to support vocational reflection
In December 2018, Augustana received a $50,000 grant from NetVUE (Network for Vocation in Undergraduate Education) to make vocational reflection more intentional in the academic curriculum and connect what’s learned in the classroom to co-curricular activities.
Vocational discernment
Students find vocational reflection infused into the curriculum and co-curricular programming, ranging from the sophomore-year residential life experience to athletic leadership programs and January Term courses on work and Sabbath rest.

Frieze Lectures to examine democracy beginning Oct. 24
This year's Frieze Lectures, a partnership between the Rock Island Public Library and the faculty of Augustana College, will include four presentations related to "Democracy in America." The series will wrap up shortly after the Nov. 5 general election, in which voters will elect the President, 34 U.S. Senators and all 435 Members of Congress.

Greek Council
Greek Council, the governing board of fraternity and sorority life, is comprised of a 15 member executive board and two representatives from each chapter. This student run governing body meets weekly and is responsible for facilitating Greek relations with Augustana faculty and the community.
