Applying Early Decision was an easy decision for Luke Vega ’24.

“I knew Augustana was the place for me,” said Vega, from Lake in the Hills, Ill. “I visited other schools, but Augustana felt homey and welcoming. Everyone was super friendly, and I liked the atmosphere.”

Even though Vega felt he had a good shot at being accepted to Augustana, he said he jumped up and down when he received his acceptance letter in December.

“I had a lot of finals going on then so it was nice to have my college decision made before Christmas … it was a weight off my shoulders,” he said.

He appreciated being able to focus on his senior year of high school, avoid multiple college application fees, and have a stress-free spring while his friends were trying to figure out where to go to college.

For high school seniors considering Early Decision at Augustana, Vega’s advice is to do the research, reach out to admissions with any questions, and visit campus (he visited three times).

Today Vega knows for sure his decision to apply early was the right decision. He’s made a lot of friends. And yes, he feels at home here.

“If you do your research and know that Augie is a good fit for you, I really recommend applying Early Decision,” Vega said.
