Culture houses and Culture Collective

The Office of Student Cultural Connection oversees three cultural houses.

  • Asian Pacific Islander Desi American House, 3243 9th Avenue.
  • Black Culture House, 3250 9th Avenue.
  • Casa Latina, 3416 9½ Avenue.

The culture houses serve as community spaces designed to foster belonging, cultural expression, and connection. They may be used for meetings, classes, programs, or as a space to relax and build community.

The houses are open Monday-Thursday from 5-9 p.m. during the fall and spring semesters.

You Belong Here Lounge is located by Gerber 420. The lounge is a student-centered space that promotes inclusion, collaboration and engagement. Students can use the lounge to study, hang out with friends, and host events.

Any student organization, faculty or staff member can reserve the Culture Houses and the You Belong Here Lounge on Astra.

The Culture Collective

The Culture Collective (The CC) unites student organizations with a cultural, global, or community-engagement mission to foster collaboration, leadership development, and community. Our purpose is to empower student leaders, strengthen organizational partnerships and enrich campus life through shared knowledge and resources. We aim to strengthen student leadership and create opportunities for shared learning across our campus community. The Culture Collective supports student organizations in advancing dialogue, cultural learning, and community engagement across campus. It is supported by the Office of Student Cultural Connection (OSCC). To join, organizations must demonstrate a focus on cultural, global, or community engagement, submit an application for membership, and fulfill additional membership requirements upon acceptance. A limited number of applications will be accepted each year, contingent on space and capacity.
