Community therapist referral options for students

This page lists local community therapists, counselors, social workers, or psychologists that provide counseling services or psychological evaluations to the college-age population. The page is organized by psychological evaluations, group practices, and therapists with treatment or specialty listed in the Quad Cities. All therapists are listed alphabetically.

Disclaimer: The therapists listed on this website are local licensed professionals with the proper credentials for providing therapy as well as specific psychological interventions. Student Counseling Services (SCS) is not recommending a particular therapist over any other. Please, make sure to properly evaluate the therapist you choose for goodness-of-fit with your needs and personality; furthermore, SCS encourages you to be an informed consumer, so please don’t hesitate to try multiple therapists out until you find a therapist that “feels” right to you, and you believe will foster a positive therapeutic relationship. Below are a few advice columns on picking a therapist that works for you.

Psychotropic medication resources in Quad-Cities

There can be a significant wait time for an appointment with a psychiatrist (upwards of three to four months) in the Quad-Cties. As such, we encourage students who are thinking about medication for mental health disorders to contact a family practice doctor. We have linked the two major healthcare systems below:

Genesis Health Find a Doctor

Unity Point Find a Doctor

Another major mental health agency in the Quad-Cities is Vera French, which provides psychiatric services and medication management for adults.

We do not have the qualifications to determine if medication is appropriate for you; however, we want to make sure that you have access to medications if you believe that medication fits your lifestyle. Also, we are more than happy to help you through the process and to consult with your doctor if necessary.
