When much of the country was reeling from the Great Recession of 2008, Augustana was no different. A dip in enrollment had come with a commensurate drop in net revenue. With not only the college but our students, their families, and the community at large hurting, we knew we had to respond decisively as well as creatively.

The mission of Augustana College is grounded in "the inclusive nature of Lutheran education." Martin Luther believed that education should be available to all regardless of gender, age, wealth, or social status. We can add, from our experience over the 165 years of the college’s existence, that education reflecting America’s and even the world’s diversity is also important.

Delp introduced as men's basketball head coach
A 2009 graduate of Augustana, Jordan Delp played for the Vikings from 2004-2009. He was named acting head coach in December 2023.
