Faculty spotlight: Dr. Jeff Mettler, assistant professor of kinesiology

Bold & Boundless: Faculty spotlights

The Bold and Boundless faculty spotlights shine a light on Augustana faculty members whose work embodies the college’s strategic goals and values through research and/or teaching, mentorship, experiential learning and service.

Math Club

Math Club aims to encourage mathematical thinking, develop problem solving skills, work on communicating insights and technical solutions, foster collaboration and leadership, and act as an outlet and source for an interest in math at Augustana. Novel concepts will be introduced which are not necessarily covered in math classes at Augustana, concepts which can help promote problem solving skills necessary for contest-level math.

Prison Education Club

This club is for bringing students at Augustana closer with students in Augustana’s Prison Education Program. Also, through the program Companions Journeying Together, it gives students the opportunity to be a pen pal with incarcerated people outside of the APEP program. Whether it’s someone who is looking to gain experience working with incarcerated people or someone who just wants to make a new connection, we want to provide opportunities to change worldviews and foster lasting relationships not just for students, but for the incarcerated as well.

Data Analytics Club

Data Analytics Club seeks to provide enrichment activities for students studying business analytics and data science, such as monthly speakers and/or seminars series, competition opportunities, data analytics project opportunities and networking opportunities.

Cultural Food Club

Food is more than just nourishment. It carries love, emotions and deep cultural significance. At Augustana College, we are surrounded by a diverse community of students, each bringing their unique traditions, experiences and flavors from all around the world. Our Cultural Food Club aims to celebrate all this diversity on campus by bringing students together twice a month to prepare, cook and share dishes from different cultures, households and backgrounds.
