Hammer adds another dinosaur to his collection
Paleontologist and professor of geology Dr. William Hammer has found a new type of dinosaur in a recent expedition to the Central Trans-Antarctic Mountains. The newly discovered species, a four or five-foot ornithischian or bird-hipped dinosaur, is on its way back to the United States in about 5,000 pounds of rock.
Hope Academy (Moorhead, Minn.) photographs, undated
Hope Academy was started by Swedish settlers in the Red River Valley, Minnesota, who wanted a church school nearby. The school was short-living, existing from 1888 until 1896. The collection consists of seven photographs from the academy. Included are single portraits of teachers and group photographs of students and teachers.
Dr. Kivisto to get honorary degree, link to family
Augustana's Dr.Peter Kivisto has a couple of firsts awaiting him in the next few weeks: He will receive an honorary doctorate from the University of Turku in Finland, and he will step into the childhood home of his Finnish grandfather.
Hasselmo winner has heart and mind in the right place
Fueled by a heart defect and an interest in research, junior Brandon Wills earned the 2015 Hasselmo Prize for Academic Pursuit and its $5,000 award. The biology major will conduct genetics research at Argonne National Laboratory in Lemont, Ill., this summer.

Why I transferred to Augustana
College is more than academics and a beautiful campus. I learned that lesson over and over again during my freshman year when I found myself restless, lacking opportunities to explore and in need of guidance. Transferring to Augustana helped me find my passion and the opportunities I was craving.
