Student panel discussion — "Voting in Prison"

Students are invited to a special student led panel discussion from students majoring in political science. The topic for this discussion will be voting rights of convicted felons.

Pianist Juliana Han, Augustana assistant professor, will perform "Reflections of Brahms" as part of the Performing Arts Series at First Presbyterian Church, Davenport.

Philosophy and Controversy: The Place of Logic and Respectful Disagreement

Dr. Deke Gould will begin the Civil Discourse series by presenting "The Place of Logic and Respectful Disagreement."

Philosophy and logic offer some time-tested lessons on how to pursue conversations about important topics; this session will survey some of those lessons. 

The Civil Discourse series is organized by the Learning Commons.

Faith in February

Augie Interfaith, the Muslim Student Association, and Hillel will host Faith in February, a chance to learn more about religion and explore the diversity within Quad Cities. 

Meet Augustana's Chaplain Richard Priggie, Rabbi Linda Bertenthal and Imam Bachir Djehiche.

Pizza will be provided. The even will run from 6-8:30 p.m.

NAMI meeting

Augustana NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness) meet. Meetings are every Monday at the same time and place.

Today's topic is assertive communication with tips on how to talk to professors and peers about academic and mental health topics.

Weekly meetings offer a time to seek support, a chance to connect with others, participate in a relaxing/de-stressing activity, and discover new ways to think about or manage mental health.

Any student interested in attending is invited to the weekly meeting. Augustana NAMI is dedicated to improving the well-being and mental health of all students.

Spring ADA Colloquium

Any faculty or staff member that missed any of the three ADA colloquiums fall semester will have an opportunity to see Kam Williams, Director of Disability Services, present on an overview of the ADA law, disability rights, common diagnoses, accommodations and more. 

A Q&A session will follow the presentation.

Guest artist recital — Scott Tegge, tuba

Guest artist Scott Tegge will be performing in a recital on the tuba. 

Tegge received his Bachelor of Music degree from the Eastman School of Music and is a tubist in the Gaudete Brass. From there, he has obtained a master's degree and a professional diploma from University of Miami and Roosevelt University's Chicago College of Performing Arts, respectively.

Tegge serves on the faculty of Northern Illinois University and Carthage College and coaches chamber music at the Chicago Youth Symphony Orchestra.
