Students are invited to a virtual open house to learn more about Augustana’s Latin American Studies and Latinx minor.
Augustana's Latin American and Latinx studies program allows students to expand their understanding
of Latin America, the Caribbean, and the Latinx United States through an interdisciplinary curriculum
made up of a combination of in-class and experiential requirements.
Around the Earth and to the Moon: Working at NASA during Gemini, Apollo, and Skylab
Former NASA engineer Norman Schell (who's also a retired Lutheran pastor) shares his experiences working on NASA's Projects Gemini, Apollo, and Skylab. His presentation is free and open to the public.
He'll be offering his presentation twice: Saturday, Nov. 7, and Sunday, Nov. 8 at 2 p.m. at the Deere-Wiman Carriage House, 817 11th Ave., Moline.

Phi Omega Phi pre-rush event

Spend Halloween playing games, eating free food, and meeting the members of the first fraternity established at Augustana. Masks and social distancing will be required the entire time.

Faculty and staff flu clinic
A flu vaccination clinic for all college employees will be offered from 11 a.m.-2 p.m.
You must print and fill out a medical consent form, and bring a photocopy of your insurance card (both sides) and a photo ID. Paper forms will not be available the day of the clinic.

Call the number on your insurance card to make sure the Rock Island County Health Department is in-network and the flu vaccine is covered, especially if you have out-of-state insurance.
If you don't have insurance, or the vaccine is not covered on your policy, the cost is $35. Bring cash, check, or debit/credit card.
Chi Alpha Pi pre-rush event
The women of Chi Alpha Pi will be making cards for local nursing homes and friendship bracelets in-person, as well as playing games virtually.
The in-person meeting will be from 6:30-7:30 p.m. in Wallenberg Hall. The virtual event will be from 7:30-8:30 on Zoom.
Those who would like to attend in-person are asked to sign up ahead of time so the group can adhere to COVID-19 guidelines. Please wear a mask and practice social distancing at the event as well.
Texas Medical Center Summer Research Program info session canceled

Juniors who are interested in applying for the Texas Medical Center Summer Research Program should contact Dr. Heidi Storl.
This summer experience is a full-time, 10-week research internship at the Texas Medical Center in Houston. The program will be June 7-Aug. 13, 2021.
It is open to all majors. Previous students have majored in English, art, pre-vet, psychology, business administration, communication studies, education, economics, political science, graphic arts, communication sciences and disorders, philosophy, chemistry, pre-med, biology, applied mathematics and more.
The estimated cost per student is $3,500. In addition to Augie Choice and a stipend, students have access to supplemental grants, and some additional funding based on financial need.
The application deadline is Dec. 1, 2020.
