CONTENT AND STRUCTURE

Administrative/Biographical History:    
Ludvig Holmes was born 7 September 1858 in Strövelstorp, Skåne, Sweden. He immigrated to the United States in 1879 and attended Augustana College from 1879-1882 and the seminary from 1884-1886, before becoming ordained on 27 June 1886. He served numerous churches, the Immigrant Home in New York, and was a member of the Hemlandssångbok committee.

He married Sofia Johnson of Altona, Illinois and had one child. He died on 7 November 1910. 

Holmes is known to have written and published other songs for Swedish-American colleges.
