Astrid Lodge No. 9 (Omaha, Nebraska) meeting minutes and other materials

This collection contains meeting minutes from the Afternoon Past President’s Club, and a ledger of financial records from the Astrid Lodge No. 9, founded in Omaha, Nebraska around 1906. The Astrid Lodge No. 9 was composed of young immigrant women from Sweden, whose presidents formed the Afternoon Past President’s Club, and came together once a month for lunch and a meeting. 

Luther Junior College and Academy (Wahoo, Neb.) records, 1903-1961

Luther Junior College and Academy was founded in 1883 in Wahoo, Nebraska. In 1962, Luther Junior College and Academy merged with Midland College in Fremont, Nebraska, and changed its name to Midland Lutheran College. In 2010, Midland Lutheran College changed its name to Midland University. This collection includes a historical essay titled “Luther Junior College and Academy,” various school newsletters and publications, a brochure for prospective students, school choir promotions, and black and white photographs, including some of the basketball team.

409 Social Club (Washington, D.C.) records, 1940-1981

The 409 Social Club was a friendship group for those who attended services at the 409 4th Street N.W. location of the Augustana Lutheran Church (Washington, D.C.), in existence from 1940-1976. Collection includes meeting minutes from 1940-1969, club constitution and by-laws, addresses for club members, and information on member Carl W. Johnson. Also includes a photograph of the club from 1967.
