William M. Peterson

Professional Faculty Instructor of Physics

I am an Iowa native who has nonetheless managed to make many trips for research and fun, and has ended up teaching just over the river from my home state. As the Physics laboratory coordinator at Augustana, I design experiments, develop innovative ways of teaching, and concoct new ways of causing mayhem.

My research involves studying radiation produced by Earth's magnetosphere, and high-resolution radio imaging of stars. I've published articles in Nature and the Astrophysical Journal. My research at Augustana continues the study of magnetically active stars, and I hope to gain observation time for my students on international radio telescopes.
