It is the mission of the Office of Human Resources to advance the overall mission of Augustana College through our greatest asset — our employees. Our office achieves its mission by providing leadership and guidance in the recruitment, retention and development of faculty and staff, and by ensuring equitable administration of policies and procedures.
The Office of Human Resources is on the second floor of Sorensen Hall. Parking is directly south of the building off of 38th Street.
Benefits open enrollment Aug. 1-17, 2018
• See all forms for flex, health savings accounts and retirement contributions and more.
Augustana will again be using an on-line benefit enrollment system and every employee must log in and elect or decline benefits for the year ahead.
Premium increase and new insurance provider
In an effort to minimize premium increases, the college will move to Blue Cross Blue Shield of Illinois. All health insurance premium levels will increase by $10 per month. Dental insurance will also move to Blue Cross Blue Shield and will have a small increase.
All employees enrolling will receive new cards for these benefits. Current cards will not be valid after Aug. 31, 2018.
As with any change in providers, there are to be small disruptions. The Blue Cross Blue Shield of Illinois network is wide and large and the vast majority of our current in-network providers will remain in-network. Prescription coverage is mainly unchanged, but certain prescriptions may move between Tier 2 and Tier 3, so the co-pay may be different.
Complicated or planned health events
Any employee planning a surgery or planned procedure that will occur at the end of August or early September, should contact Lisa Sears (x7740) so that she can assist with coordinating benefits during this transition. She also can provide information on potential coverage changes for speciality medications.
Flexible spending accounts
While the vendor for flex spending will remain the same, the plan year will transition due to the calendar change in the 19-20 year. This is important as the flex plan will have a gap between Sept.1-Dec. 31 in 2019 and restart on Jan 1, 2020.
Employees may want to consider a larger withholding and taking advantage of the “grace period” provision that would allow usage through Nov. 15, 2019.
Detailed information on these topics and more will be mailed to employees in July. The open enrollment portal will be open from Aug.1-17, 2018.
