John E. Nelson poetry, 1952

Collection of bound typewritten poems titled “Verses” written by John E. Nelson of Minnesota and North Dakota. The poems were all originally published in various Swedish-American newspapers around the turn of the century (from about 1897 to 1907). Collection includes introduction of autobiographical information written in 1952.

Students discover history of local writers

Students discover some of the most important writers in America lived and wrote in the Quad Cities in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. To bring attention to this neglected body of literature, they researched and wrote essays about the writers and published an anthology at Augustana's East Hall Press.
