Dear Augustana community,

I write to provide you with an update on the search for the ninth president of Augustana College. I am pleased to report that the recruitment process has resulted in a robust pool of applicants with broad and varied experiences and backgrounds.

I am impressed by the quality and diversity of possible successors and believe the strength of the applicant pool is a reflection of the hard work and dedication of faculty, staff, and students along with the vision and commitment of President Bahls, the cabinet, and the board of trustees to moving the college forward. 
 
The Presidential Search Committee will meet in the coming week to begin the process of narrowing the field of candidates. We will continue this work over the following weeks, conducting multiple rounds of interviews, contacting references, gathering additional information, and performing the kind of due diligence that you might expect with a presidential search.

We are committed to observing strict confidentiality during this time to protect those who have opted to engage in the search. That means that you will not hear specifics about the individuals we are talking to, but rest assured that the search committee will be carrying out its charge.
 
I will be sharing additional news about the search as the process unfolds this fall.   In the meantime, questions and comments may be submitted to pressearch@augustana.edu.
