Shockingly Modern Saxophone Festival: Discussing Modern Music with Erin Rogers
New York-based saxophonist and composer Erin Rogers lead a discussion and Q&A session on modern music as part of the annual Shockingly Modern Saxophone Festival.
The festival headliner, Rogers will perform at 7:30 p.m.
She is a Canadian-American composer, saxophonist, and performance artist dedicated to new and experimental music.
Her music has been described as “whimsical, theatrical” (Brooklyn Vegan), “a wild ride” (An Earful), and “so complex, it’s primitive.” (Pittsburgh Post-Gazette).
Her work explores the intersection of chamber music, sound alchemy, and theatre, moving between acoustic and electronic worlds. She has performed worldwide as a soloist, chamber musician, and guest artist.
Shockingly Modern Saxophone Festival: Colere Quartet
The Colere Quartet — including student performer Melissa Hagerty,Phil Pierick and Casey Dierlam Tse, piano — will perform at the annual Shockingly Modern Saxophone Festival.

The Gillis Cunningham Duo — Glen Gillis, saxophone; and James Cunningham, electronics and didgeridoo — will open the second day of the annual Shockingly Modern Saxophone Festival.

The Romex Duo — Dr. Nicki Roman, saxophone; Dr. Alex Wier, percussion; and student performer Evan Sammons — will perform the opening music of the annual Shockingly Modern Saxophone Festival.
At 7:30 p.m, Dr. Randall Hall will perform.
Info session on Admissions jobs
The Office of Admissions is looking for students to work in its office next year. An info session will be held to explain the positions.
Admissions will be hiring ambassadors, student workers, student callers, and campus visit assistants (CVAs). Below is a description of each job:
All positions also assist with visit days, act as overnight hosts and can share their Augustana experience with prospective students and families!

ProFair
ProFair is a career event presented by Augustana College and St. Ambrose University, connecting students and alumni to local and national employers for jobs and internships.
Students may explore companies and organizations and talk with employers about full-time, part-time and internship opportunities. Hours today are 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Some organizations may invite students to join them for an interview the following day.

What to expect from Augie's first J-term
The beloved trimesters have ended and we officially began the first year of semesters. With our new semester transition, we are also experiencing our first J-term!
Nordic Book Club
Join the monthly Swenson Center book club to discuss books on Nordic topics or by Nordic authors. We will provide coffee and tea and a welcoming environment! Books chosen are available in both Swedish and English, with the discussion in English. Swedish language learners can continue practicing their Swedish reading skills while non-Swedish language learners are welcome to read the title in English.
March's book is "A Nearly Normal Family" by M.T. Edvardsson, translated by Rachel Willson-Broyles (Swedish title "En helt vanlig familj")
