How to use Augustana's health screening app

Updated June 11, 2021

Note: Fully vaccinated community members are not required to use the health screening.

All Augustana students, faculty and staff who are not fully vaccinated are required to use the CampusClear health screening tool before coming to campus every day.

Residential students and commuter students should complete the health survey each day before attending class but no later than noon.

Visitors to campus may use CampusClear or the Visitor Self-Screening Tool.

Getting started

Download CampusClear from the iOS or Google Play app store.

Log in by entering your @augustana.edu email address. You will receive an email confirmation, and after clicking the confirmation link you will have access to the app.

Enable notifications from the app to get a reminder each day at 8 a.m. to take the self-screening survey.

(CampusClear also can be used from a computer and the login process is similar.)

Employees who need assistance with CampusClear should contact Human Resources, 309-794-7141.

Students should contact the ITS Help Desk 309-794-7293. Students who cannot use CampusClear with a computer or a smartphone should contact the Dean of Students, 309-794-7533, for alternative options.

How it works

People on campus will be required to take their temperatures and complete the app's self-screening daily. Based on their results, users will receive a response: "Good to go" or "Not cleared for campus." Those not cleared for campus will receive additional information.

Those who are symptom-free will receive a date-stamped “FastPass” on their phones allowing them campus access that day.

Those who are symptomatic will not be granted the “FastPass” and will get additional instructions on what to do next.

Employees who do not receive a “fastpass” through CampusClear due to their responses should contact their supervisors and Human Resources immediately.

Students who do not receive a “fastpass” through CampusClear should should self-isolate, notify the college through Starfish and email Residential life staff, instructors and Associate Dean Laura Schnack.

Taking temperatures

A personal thermometer will be provided to each student during move-in to assist with temperature checks. Also, several self-serve temperature check stations will be available in the following locations:

Sorensen Hall receiving entrance (Public Safety)
Founders Hall, main entrance
Pepsico Recreation Center, main entrance reception area
Olin Center, first floor reception area near the computer lab
Carver PE Center, main entrance reception area
Gerber Center, main entrance by Dining Services
Tredway Library, main entrance vestibule

Use of data

CampusClear collects results from a one-question survey. The data is used to identify individuals who have or have been exposed to COVID-19 so that the college can use contact tracing to prevent the spread of the virus.

Augustana will analyze the data collected as a whole to monitor trends and ensure those on campus are using the app. Only trained contact tracers appointed by the college will be able to view the data.

CampusClear will not be used to monitor individual health. Students should contact the Augustana Convenient Care health clinic, and employees should consult their own health care provider if they need medical advice.

The app does not collect personal information about online activities over time or track activity on other sites or apps for any purpose.
