Adjusted COVID-19 rules for group gatherings

Nov. 12, 2020

Students,

I'm writing to share a quick update, because I know many of you are working hard to keep yourselves and others safe. As a campus community we have worked hard to mitigate the spread of COVID-19. It has been our focus and a priority of new proportions.

This week the college has responded to the strong guidance of local public health officials, and because of the increase of cases in the Quad Cities community, Augustana adjusted COVID-19 rules for group gatherings.

All gatherings — indoors or outdoors — of more than 10 people must take place virtually, with the exception of classes or other faculty-led academic activities, including music, that have been meeting in-person.

Classrooms will remain open as they have been, and in-person classes can continue because our classrooms have been arranged for physical distancing.

For individuals, the Tredway Library, dining halls and exercise spaces inside Westerlin and Pepsico will remain open. These areas are properly set up for physical distancing and maintained according to public health guidelines. To keep them open, we need to stay sharp on these guidelines.

Keep showing yourself and others what it means to be #AugustanaStrong!
