PLEN-ty of opportunity; still time to sign up!
Public Leadership Education Network (PLEN) seminars are for women who are considering a career in health policy.
Krishna Marmé ’20 is pursuing a master's in public health policy at the University of Iowa because of her PLEN experience.
Shelby Olson ’79 paid for Augustana’s membership with PLEN, opening the door for students to attend. And on March 15-19, two students will participate in a PLEN Women in Health Policy seminar. Registration remains open until March 1 for others interested in exploring careers in health and health care; email for details.
Today's updates:
• The Presidential Search Committee listening session for students is tonight at 5:30.
• The Student Life Programming Board is looking for leaders. Don't delay if you are interested; the deadline is Monday.
• If you are considering optometry, go to the pre-optometry advising session today from 3:30-4:30 p.m.
• The annual Vázquez-Valarezo Poetry Award is open and the theme this year is "Discontentment." You may have some thoughts on that. The deadline is March 12 and there are cash prizes.
• Campus Cupboard is open in Sorensen 302. Hours this semester are 3-4 p.m. Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.
The Illinois Press Association interviews Brady Johnson and Olivia Doak, co-editors-in-chief of the Augustana Observer, on what they are learning about information literacy.

Dr. Rebecca J. Heick, assistant professor of public health, keeps things straight for a local report on the decline in COVID-19 cases: "It doesn’t mean that we’re in the clear, that is one thing I want to be very frank about is that this decrease in cases isn’t some kind of an all-clear flag that we can kind of all go back to our normal lives."
Bus pickup location changing temporarily
As of Friday, the Burlington Trailways bus service will use the circle driveway in front of Carlsson-Evald Hall. This is a temporary change due to the congestion caused by snow and construction around the usual pickup spot at Carver PE Center.
A recorded performance of The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time will be presented live March 4-7. The story is told from the perspective of a 15-year-old gifted autistic boy determined to find out who killed his neighbor's dog. Here are Virgil Hajdys as Christopher, the protagonist, and Ravyn Davis as his school mentor. The production uses lighting and sound effects to show Christopher’s experience of the world.
