Distance learning for J-term and spring semester

Nov. 13, 2020

Dear students,

Augustana College will continue to make the remote learning option available for the J-term and spring semester. While we continue to believe that active learning is better when we are together, we understand the concern many still have regarding the pandemic and want to extend this special opportunity.

If you would like to apply to be a remote learner for either J-term or spring semester, I've included important information in this note.

Here's what you need to know:

• To apply as a first-time distance learner, you will need to complete the distance learning form no later than Nov. 20, 2020, to identify your intention. Please note that you must complete this form for each term. (i.e., if you are remote learning the remainder of the academic year, you will need to complete two intention forms: one form indicating J-term and a second form indicating spring semester.)

• Your remote learning intention form and your financial aid will be reviewed as quickly as possible. You will receive a remote learning finalization form that must be completed to confirm your final decision, on or before Dec. 16, 2020.

If you choose to be a spring remote learner, your cost of attendance will be adjusted, and you will receive a new award letter from Financial Aid. Any decrease in financial assistance (gift aid) will be capped at no more than $2,000 for the spring semester.

There will be no adjustments to your bill or financial aid for J-term.

Best of luck with your J-term and spring planning.
