Why Augustana?

I chose Augustana because of the community. Every person on campus wants the other to succeed and will help out in any way to do so. This place has been nothing but supportive since I got here four years ago!

Are you where you thought you'd be when you first came to campus?

I never thought I would be able to be involved in so much on campus! Each opportunity has been monumental in its own way, and I am better for it. This campus has so much to offer, and I am grateful for every opportunity to be involved.

Who helped you get to where you are now?

My coaches have helped foster my leadership skills by allowing me to assist in Ieading the team to four national championship tournaments. My teammates have been very supportive in all my accomplishments in and out of the water.

My professors have helped me develop a passion for learning to help shape what I want my future career to be. My friends who have been there for me all four years and have always lent a helpful hand or a listening ear. Finally, my family who is always happy for me to see me grow even though I am a ways from home.

All of these people has helped me get to where I am now, and I am so grateful they are all crucial people in my life.

Peak experience?

My peak experience would have to be building up the Augustana water polo program to what it is now with my amazing teammates and coaches.

What surprised you?

I was surprised about the overlap among classes and being able to pursue two minors while also accomplishing my major classes.

How did you use your Augie Choice?

I used my Augie Choice to fund an internship at Plaza Physical and Occupational Therapy.

What will you miss the most?

I will miss talking to all of my friends, professors, teammates, etc. as I see them around campus.

Advice for the Class of 2029?

If you are hesitant to get involved in something on campus, you're not alone. Everyone gets nervous, but most importantly, you never know what it could lead to. Opportunities allow for growth and prosperity in the long run so trust that you will be okay!

"Lizzie is an extraordinary student, and I am beyond grateful to have had the opportunity to teach her. She possesses a level of professionalism and strong work ethic that will serve her well in her endeavors. However, it was her ability to dare greatly and to pursue opportunities with dedication, perseverance and stepping out of one’s comfort zone that impressed me the most. I look forward to the positive impact she will have moving forward."
