More Than I Imagined Seniors reflect on accomplishments and look ahead

Seth Davis

Graduation year: 2015

Major: Business administration-marketing

Minor: Political science

Activities: Rocky Mountain Student Club, Student Athletic Advisory Committee, varsity baseball (2012-15)

Post-grad plans: I plan on pursuing a career in baseball. In addition, I want to continue my understanding and development in the growing and ever-changing marketing field.

Why did you choose Augustana?

The campus immediately struck me as beautiful, and the student body seemed very comfortable in their surroundings, especially the baseball team. The great academics combined with a competitive baseball program made it an easy decision to come here.

Are you where you thought you'd be four years ago?

Coming into Augustana, I didn't have a set plan for what I wanted to do. Through different classes I took and interacting with people throughout the school, I have come to a place where I feel very comfortable right now. I am surprised with how much this school has grown on me.

Who helped you get to where you are now?

My parents have always supported me and have had a large influence on where I am now. Their guidance and words of wisdom have really helped me get through any tough situation.

A peak experience?

Winning the CCIW league and tournament championships in 2013 and 2014. They were complete team accomplishments and a testament to the bonds that grew throughout those years with the players.

What did you learn about yourself in these past four years that surprised you?

I learned, most of all, to trust myself. Whether it is on a baseball field or in a classroom, I feel much more comfortable looking for guidance within myself.

How did you use your Augie Choice?

I used my Augie Choice for my internship. As it was an unpaid internship, this money was very important as it allowed me to take this position and not have to worry about the lack of money. I was also able to update my business wardrobe, which was very helpful.

What will you miss the most?

The friendships that I made here will last for a long time. I will miss being able to hang out and relax with friends who enjoy similar interests.

Advice for the Class of 2019?

Make friends with anyone and everyone and be sure to enjoy the ride. College is as much about building relationships as it is learning concepts. Be sure to enjoy every second of it.

“Seth is a big-time competitor and has been a significant contributor to the success of the Augustana baseball program the last four years. Every time Seth took the ball to the mound you knew that he was going to give an all-out effort, and the team would have an outstanding chance to win the ball game. Away from the baseball field, Seth is a model ambassador for Augustana and the opportunities available here to grow and thrive as a young adult."
