Why did you choose to attend Augustana?

I chose Augustana after realizing that the tight-knit, inviting community I recognized here is not found at many colleges.

Are you where you thought you’d be four years ago?

I don’t know where I thought I would be four years ago, but my time at Augustana has been an overwhelmingly positive experience. I have grown in all areas of my life and know that the lessons I’ve learned during my time here will continue to guide me in the next stages of my life.

Who helped you get to where you are now?

Each of my professors and coaches has helped shape me in some way or another. I feel blessed and grateful to have worked with each one of them.

A peak experience?

My peak experience has been being a part of the Augustana track and field and cross country teams during my four years here. There has been nothing more fulfilling or special than being a part of something much greater than myself.

How did you use your Augie Choice?

I used Augie Choice as a stipend for a public relations internship at Junior Achievement of the Heartland in Moline last summer. The professional experience was extremely useful for my résumé.

What did you learn about yourself in these past four years that surprised you?

Failure is the best motivation.

What will you miss the most?

The friendships, being a part of a team, taking classes, living with my best friends, track and cross country meets, Old Main, the slough, and Maria the lunch lady.

"Sarahbeth has set 10 school records at Augustana in cross country and track and field. One of the records she broke was 30 years old! She is driven to become the best. She does all of her workouts, eats properly, gets good rest, and does her academic work as assigned. She has earned academic honors from the United States Cross Country and Track and Field Coaches Association. Sarahbeth is the complete student-athlete."
