Alex Jones

Professional Faculty Instructor and Clinical Supervisor, Communication Sciences and Disorders

Alexandra Jones returns to Augustana six years after her tenure as a student. Jones worked for the Peoria Public School District 150 for four years and Shine Therapy Services for three years. During this time, she primarily worked with autism-only programs within the public school system, specializing in augmentative and alternative communication devices.

Jones is certified in LAMP Words For Life, STAR Program – Strategies for Teaching based on Autism Research, and Boardmaker.

Prior to her professional career as a speech language pathologist, she was awarded the William F. Freistat grant alongside two peers and her mentor, Dr. Kathy Jakielski, in 2015. This allowed her to travel around Cambodia, jumpstarting her interest in ethical leadership; creating, designing and assessing ethical global service-learning projects; and surveying the need for appropriate English language learning tools in other countries.

In addition to her professional work, Jones enjoys teaching weekly workout classes, traveling, hiking and competing in triathlons.
