Women's Tennis captures CCIW title for third time in four years

MOLINE, Ill. – Playing nearly flawlessly for the entire weekend, the Augustana women's tennis team won the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin Championship going away on Saturday, October 20 at the Quad City Tennis Club in Moline, Illinois. The Vikings scored 71 points to outdistance runner-up Wheaton's total of 51. Carthage was third with 37 while North Central took fourth with 34. Elmhurst (10), Illinois Wesleyan (10), Carroll (8), Millikin (2) and North Park (2) rounded out the field.

For Viking head coach Jon Miedema it was the third CCIW title in the last four years and it was also the seventh in school history (1993, 1994, 1996, 1997, 2015, 2016 & 2018).

Augustana won three singles titles and three doubles championships and the Vikings were represented in the championship matches in five of six singles and all three doubles flights.

The singles portion was finished first on Saturday and Augustana had clinched the team title by the time the championship matches for doubles started. The Vikings won all three of the doubles titles and all were in convincing fashion.

With the team championship, Augustana has now earned the right to host the CCIW's NCAA Automatic Qualifying Tournament in the spring.
