Free shuttle for Sept. 21 Rock Island event

On Sunday, Sept. 21, we're gonna party like it's 1875!

This weekend marks the 150th anniversary of Augustana's first day of classes in Rock Island, and MetroLink is helping celebrate with a FREE shuttle service running between the front of Centennial Hall to Schwiebert Park from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Sunday evening.

The program, led off by the Augustana Symphonic Band, starts at 6 p.m. Your college band played students into their first day of classes back in September of 1875, and thanks to the leadership of Dr Jim Lambrecht, it's going to play us all into Augie's next chapter!

With brief comments from President Talentino and Rock Island Mayor Ashley Harris, you'll have plenty of time to check out the concession stand, where RI Parks & Rec will have food available for purchase. Shuttles will run you back to Centennial at any time - be sure to have your Augie ID.
