Augie Film at Alternating Currents Aug. 16-17

Two Augustana film events will be taking place during the Quad Cities Alternating Currents festival this weekend:

  • Saturday, Aug. 16, 1 p.m., The Last Picture House, Davenport: Associate Professor and Film Program Director Stacy Barton will present "Art is Work," a documentary film project created in collaboration with Quad City Arts and the Metro Arts Documentary Filmmaking apprentices.
  • Sunday, Aug. 17, 6:30 p.m., Circa 21 Speakeasy, Rock Island: Augustana's film program will hold a Student Film Award Showcase. This year’s showcase offers eight films that encompass a dynamic mix of genres, ranging from gripping crime dramas and moody noir to laugh-out-loud comedies, powerful documentaries, and evocative historical narratives. Run time: 90 minutes.
