Last year was tough on everyone, but especially the performing arts, when the pandemic ruled out live performances. 

Now, the Augustana Symphonic Band will celebrate its first official live performance in nearly 18 months this Saturday in a concert entitled "Opening Day."

It's that time of year: flu clinics coming up

The Rock Island County Health Department will offer two flu vaccine clinics on campus: one for faculty and staff Oct. 19, and one for students Oct. 22.

Both clinics will be in Centennial Hall. You don't need an appointment but you will need to bring a form. → Get the form and the details.

Today's updates:

• The demand for data analytics professionals outweighs supply. And, it's a field of study that combines well with many others. Find out more at the data analytics info session from 4-5 p.m. Oct. 12 in Olin 109.

• Here's your chance to work on a research or creative project with a faculty member using a Student Faculty Academic Partnership Grant. Ask your professor if there is a project you could join. Proposals are due Oct. 29.

🎭 Auditions are next week for our modern production of "Medea" coming up in January.

👍 Omidullah Barikzay '21 is ready to welcome Afghan refugees who are expected to make their new homes in the Quad Cities. He works as a software engineer for John Deere but makes time to volunteer with World Relief.


Things are happening inside Bergendoff!

Bergendoff Hall of Fine Arts is becoming a new modern space. Students began using a  new music education suite and a dedicated classroom this fall. The Potter Theater in the building is being divided into classrooms and rehearsal spaces. → Take a look


Needed: Students in front of cameras

All students are invited to participate in a series of campus-wide photo sessions Oct. 12-13 to highlight life at Augustana. The photos will be used in web, print and social media.

Students who are selected will receive compensation for each session in which they participate, as well as photos taken of them for their own use.
