Campus update for Oct. 5, 2020

Oct. 5, 2020

Flu season is coming

You can get a flu shot at the Augustana Convenient Care on campus on any day but Sunday. Make an appointment online and get it done! It only takes a few minutes.

Or, make plans to go to the flu shot clinic on campus Oct. 23 offered by the Rock Island Health Department.

It is more important than ever to get a flu shot because flu and COVID-19 viruses both are likely to spread this fall and winter. A flu shot won’t prevent COVID-19, buy getting one could help your doctor differentiate between the diseases if you develop symptoms.

Also remember, Augustana offers Students Care, a telehealth service that gives you access to virtual medical and mental health visits any time, from anywhere.

This is in addition to our own staff and resources in Counseling Services. Be well!

COVID-19 testing dashboard

The college shares new data on the dashboard at noon on Mondays. The number of new cases has remained low.

Getting back in the garden!

When students went home last March, the gardens at Augie Acres were largely left untended.

But now the Augustana Local Agriculture Society is regrouping: harvesting plums and honey, getting ready to plant fall cover crops, and considering a fence to keep out pillaging rabbits and deer. Olivia Smith interviews Darby Burk and Faith Pickslay in the ObserverCast.
