Women’s & Gender Studies: A Light-Hearted History

Dr. Vicki Sommer, professor emerita of sociology, will present “Women’s & Gender Studies: A Light-Hearted History" at the annual meeting of the Augustana Historical Society.
 
Dinner will be served at 6:30 p.m., after which Dr. Sommer will discuss the history of Women’s and Genders Studies in a program intended by the society to pay tribute to the memory of Dr. Nancy Huse, another of the founding mothers, who passed away earlier this year. 

Cost for the dinner and program is $24 per person. Reservations are required by Nov. 8. Those wishing to attend should send a check, payable to A.H.S., to the President's Office, Augustana College, 639 38th St., Rock Island, Ill., 61201.

Indicate menu preference from the following choices: 

Chicken: Grilled chicken breast smothered with sautéed peppers and onions, topped with Provolone cheese and chicken velouté, and served with wild rice pilaf.

Pork: Cranberry demi-topped pork chop with sage and cranberry dressing, served alongside roasted new potatoes.

Vegetarian: Portabella mushrooms stir-fried with bell peppers, soy sauce, mirin, sugar, cashews and sesame oil, and served with white rice.
