Swedish Council of America awards banquet

The American Scandinavian Association at Augustana College and the Augustana Historical will welcome the Swedish Council of America during its fall meetings, being held in the Quad Cities.

The three organizations will jointly host a banquet Oct. 12 honoring the Swedish Council’s 2018 award winners and recognizing the contributions of Dr. Dag Blank, director of the Swenson Swedish Immigration Research Center at Augustana, and professor of American Studies at Sweden’s Uppsala University.

Tickets are $26.50 and reservations must be received by Oct. 8

The Swedish Council of America, headquartered in Minneapolis, presents awards that recognize contributions by individuals and organizations that further understanding of Swedish heritage and enhance appreciation of Swedish culture in the U.S. and Canada. Its executive director, Gregg White, will announce the 2018 SCA Awards.

Dr. Blanck, a recipient of the Carl Sandburg Medal of the Swedish-American Historical Society, will be honored with a special tribute from the Augustana Historical Society recognizing his contributions to scholarship related to Swedish-American interaction.
