Frieze Lecture: "Radical" to the "Radicant"

Vickie Phipps, associate professor of art and graphic design, will present the third lecture of this year's Frieze Lecture series, a 22-year partnership between the Rock Island Public Library and Augustana College to present four talks in the fall.

This year's theme is "Student Bill of Rights and Responsibilities," in conjunction with the 40th anniversary of the assassination of one of Augustana’s most extraordinary graduates.

Vickie Phipps will describe a shift within the art community in broaden its focus from the “radical” to the “radicant,” and the impact that’s having on activism.

Lectures are from 2-3 p.m. Tuesdays at the Rock Island Main Library, 401 19th St., Community Room. Free coffee, cookies and conversation are offered after each lecture
