"La Divina: The Last Interview of Maria Callas"

Augustana's Shelley Cooper will perform her one-woman play, "La Divina: The Last Interview of Maria Callas," is inspired by the life and work of the dramatic 20th century opera singer Maria Callas.

Performances will begin at 7:30 p.m. Dec. 9 and 10 in the Brunner Theatre Center Black Box.

The show runs 60 minutes, and contains stories of Callas' life and famous iconic arias that Maria Callas is known for singing.

All  proceeds will go to the Penguin Project. Its goal is to provide an opportunity for children with special needs to develop creative skills related to the theatre arts. It will perform "Beauty and the Beast Jr." at Augustana College in February.    

Cooper is an assistant professor of theatre arts at Augustana. She will perform "La Divina" again in Gratz, Austria, Dec. 16-20 with the International University Global Theatre Experience at the Retzhof Castle.
