"Elephant's Graveyard" auditions

The Elephant Project will hold auditions for its production of the "Elephant's Graveyard" from 6:30-9:30 p.m. March 6 in the Wilson Center. Callbacks will be from 6:30-9:30 March 7 if needed.

The drama by George Brant is being directed by Augustana senior Debo Balogun. It will be performed May 5-7 and 12-14 at The Village Theatre in Davenport.

The play, set in September 1916, is the true story of a collision between a tiny town in Tennessee and a travelling circus which results in the only known lynching of an elephant

Those interested in auditioning should sign up for an audition time. All roles are paid a small stipend.

This production calls for a diverse cast. Those age 18 and older from all ethnic backgrounds, genders, sexual orientation, and religion are strongly encouraged to audition. Skills such as juggling, ballet, hoop tricks, flag twirling, etc., are a plus.

Those auditioning should prepare a contemporary monologue of no more than 90 seconds, and the verse and chorus of a rock or pop song to sing a capella to show the vocal range. You may be asked to read sides from a script. Bring a headshot photo of yourself. 

Rehearsals will be from 6:30-9:30 p.m. Monday-Thursday starting March 13.

The Elephant Project is an independent theatre intitiative based in the Quad Cities jump-started by Balogun in May 2016. With a production team composed entirely of young theatre artists, The Elephant Project has raised nearly $3,000 for its production of "Elephant's Graveyard" through crowdfunding.
