Augie Sweethearts: Paige Tinsman '11 and Andy Tinsman '08

We met as fellow trumpet players in the Symphonic Band and Jazz Ensemble in September of 2007.

Jazz Ensemble was “rebuilding” at the time, so we began the year as the only two trumpets! We were too nervous to actually talk to each other, especially as a freshman (Paige) and a senior (Andy), so most of our early conversations took place through AIM and at trumpet section dinners.

We finally started dating during Paige’s junior year, which meant that Andy frequently returned to Augie for visits and concerts. We married in Ascension Chapel in June of 2014 and continue to play music gigs together. Supposedly, we’re the only pair of Augie trumpet players who have ever married!
