Tredway Library Prize celebration

The Tredway Library will congratulate Jack Harris, winner of the 2017 Tredway Library Prize for First-Year Research.

Here is his paper, "The Power of Queer Representation in the Media."

The paper examines the lack of representation of the queer community in today's film and television productions.

He is a first-year student from Mazomanie, Wis., majoring in creative writing and graphic design.

The Tredway Library Prize for First-Year Research recognizes an outstanding research paper written by a first-year Augustana student for a class in the Liberal Studies or Honors sequence. The award promotes students' active engagement in the processes of library research and encourages them to synthesize library research skills with the reading, writing and critical thinking skills developed in the first-year sequence.

Harris wrote his paper for FYI 103, "Rethinking the ‘F Word’: Feminisms for the 21st Century."
