Clarinets for Conservation Benefit Concert

The Augustana Clarinet Studio will present its fourth annual Clarinets for Conservation recital to benefit the Daraja Music Initiative.

This organization is concerned with the preservation of the mpingo tree, which provides the wood from which clarinets are made, and promotes sustainability through music education in Tanzania, where the tree grows.

Musicians in the recital will include Augustana students and members of the community, performing as soloists, chamber musicians, and in a massed clarinet choir.

Two student compositions will be featured, and the special guest is Rob Hadesbeck, clarinet instructor at St. Ambrose University, who will join Augustana clarinet instructor Susan Schwaegler for the "Alla Polacca" movement of Krommer's "Concerto for Two Clarinets in Eb major."

A free will donation will be collected, with proceeds going to the Daraja Music Initiative.
