Interfaith Understanding Conference here June 1-3
April 04, 2014
|Bishop Elizabeth Eaton and Eboo Patel of Interfaith Youth Core will be among the conference speakers.|
Presidents, students, faculty and chaplains from Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) colleges and universities will meet at Augustana June 1-3 for an Interfaith Understanding Conference.
They will discuss best practices, resources, and stories of exploring interfaith engagement and developing interfaith literacy on ELCA campuses.
The conference features several speakers and facilitators, including Eboo Patel of Interfaith Youth Core, and Bishop Elizabeth Eaton, presiding bishop of the ELCA.
Each ELCA college and university is invited to send a team to the conference. Each campus cohort team should include, if possible, two students of differing faith traditions, a faculty member, a chaplain or campus pastor, and an additional administrator or the president. Each group will have time for specific planning for the school’s campus, and there will be special times for students, chaplains, faculty and presidents to gather as groups.
Bishop Eaton and Patel also will have a special meeting time with presidents who attend.
The program, food and housing costs will be provided. Travel costs, however, will need to be covered by each campus sending participants.
