'American Idol' finalist to sing on campus
November 08, 2013
“American Idol” finalist Casey Abrams will make his first appearance at Augustana College at 8 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 7, in the Center for Student Life (3435 9½ Ave), Gävle Room.
Abrams grew up among artists and attended the Idyllwild Arts Academy, a prestigious private school in Palm Springs, Calif., where he studied bass instruction and improvisation. His music style is influenced by jazz icons like Oscar Peterson and Thelonious Monk.
Throughout his recently released self-titled debut album, Abrams proves his capability as a contemporary songwriter with prodigious artistic gifts. His ambition at heart, however, remains very simple: “I want to make music that people love.” He has done so on his first album, and will continue to do for some time to come.
General public tickets cost $10. Tickets are available at the Augustana Ticket Office, 3703 7th Ave., Rock Island, during regular business hours, or they can be charged by phone at (309) 794-7306. Tickets can also be purchased online at www.augustana.edu/tickets. Tickets for Augustana faculty/staff and Augustana students free by showing an ID at the door.
