Save the date(s) for CSL, new stadium and Old Main
June 24, 2013
After a year of construction and renovation, Augustana is preparing to celebrate the completion of three projects – the Center for Student Life addition to the Thomas Tredway Library, the restoration of Old Main and the new Austin E. Knowlton Outdoor Athletic Complex.
Center for Student Life – Monday, Aug. 26, and Saturday, Sept. 14.
On Aug. 26, the first day of classes, the Augustana students, staff and faculty will be invited into the library and CSL to explore the new areas and connect with the offices and the people inside.
On Sept. 14, Family Weekend, parents, students, donors and others will gather at the CSL to dedicate the building.
As a complement to the library, the 35,000-square-foot CSL combines a new contemporary dining service with expanded space for student study and collaboration, a larger coffee shop and outdoor patio.
Austin E. Knowlton Outdoor Athletic Complex – Saturday, Sept. 7.
The college will host special celebration and dedication during the first home football game of the season, when the Vikings play College of Mount Saint Joseph, from Cincinnati.
New facilities included in the Knowlton Complex will be the Charles D. Lindberg Stadium, the Ken Anderson Academic All-America Club and the Players' Plaza and Viking Patio and Overlook.
Old Main – Friday, Oct. 11.
Part of this year’s homecoming celebration will be the re-dedication and ribbon cutting. Donors will be honored, and the building will be open to tour.
The $9.8 million interior renovation of Old Main began last summer, and includes a new layout, upgraded technology and centralized mechanical, heating and cooling systems. There will be a new space for the student station WAUG, conference rooms, more bathrooms and a larger elevator.
