Vikings 12th at Augustana Invite

Sophomore Max Channon had Augustana's best individual round of the tournament with a 77 on Friday. He finished with a two-round total of 165 as the Vikings finished 12th among 20 teams at the Augustana Invitational in Milan, Illinois.

MILAN, Ill.-Sophomore Jake Groselak (Lemont HS, Lemont, Ill.) shot a team best 161 this weekend and classmate Max Channon (Wheaton Warrenville South HS, Wheaton, Ill.) had Augustana's best round with a 77 on Friday as the Vikings finished 12th of 20 teams at the Augustana Invitational at Pinnacle Country Club.

Groselak shot an 83 on Friday and came back with a 78 on Saturday to finish in a tie for 40th place. Channon, was next among the Vikings, tying for 50th with a 165. He followed up a first-round 77 with an 88 on Saturday.  

Freshman David Ferlmann (Peoria Notre Dame HS, Dunlap, Ill.) (90-78 - 168) tied for 69th. Junior Dave Cook (United Township HS, Silvis, Ill.) (82-87 - 169) finished in a 74th-place tie and sophomore Josh Kukla (Zion-Benton HS, Winthrop Harbor, Ill.) (90-90 - 180) was 102nd. Augustana shot a cumulative 332 on Friday and 331 on Saturday for a two-round total of 663.  

Indian Hills (299-294 - 593) won the team title, followed by Illinois Wesleyan (296-304 - 600). Carthage (313-304 - 617), a second Illinois Wesleyan team (310-313 - 623) and Dubuque (319-313 - 632) rounded out the top five.  

Indian Hills' Williams White (74-73 - 147) and Illinois Wesleyans' Gabe Aprati (71-76 - 147) shared individual medalist honors.

Next Friday and Saturday, April 19-20, Coach Paul Del Vecchio's squad will be competing in the first two round of the CCIW Championship at Fox Creek, Illinois.
