Ferguson grabs third in 50 free at Grinnell Invite

GRINNELL, Iowa - Junior Hillary Ferguson (Waubonsie Valley HS, Naperville, Ill.) came up with Augustana's top performance of the second day of the Grinnell Invitational on Saturday, January 19 in Grinnell, Iowa. Ferguson placed third in the 50 freestyle with a time of :25.18 in the final after recording a time of :25.33 in the preliminary round.
Her effort helped the Vikings take seventh in the team standings of the 11-team meet with 374 points. Nebraska-Omaha won the event with 1,058 points while Gustavus Adolphus was second with 1000 and Luther was third with 759. Host Grinnell placed fourth with 576 and St. Catherine's had 386 points in sixth. Augustana (374), Nebraska-Kearney (311), Coe (207), Simpson (104) and St. Mary (44) rounded out the field.
Junior Helen Myers (Pecatonica HS, Rock City, Ill.) took fifth in the three meter diving with 360.25 points and freshman Emma Novak (Eden Prairie HS, Eden Prairie, Minn.) was seventh in the 400 individual medley with a time of 4:53.65.
Senior Emma Regnier (Grayslake North HS, Lake Villa, Ill.) had the only other top-10 finish for the Vikings on the day when she placed 10th in the 100 butterfly with a time of 1:04.65.
