2012 Season - Trotta named "Pitcher of Week" in CCIW

ROCK ISLAND, Ill.- Augustana senior Mike Trotta (Notre Dame HS, Chicago, Ill.) has been named the "Pitcher of the Week" in baseball by the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin, it was announced today. Trotta had a tremendous week as the Vikings came back from Florida with a 7-2 record.
He tossed a pair of complete-game victories and came back with a 2-0 individual mark. He worked seven innings in the opening game of the season, a 12-0 victory over Brandeis on February 22 in the first game of an eventual double-header split by Augustana. He struck out four and walked just one while allowing four hits.
Trotta came back on February 29 and pitched another complete game, this time going seven innings in the opening game of a double-header sweep over Loras. He beat the Duhawks 9-5 as he struck out nine, walked two and scattered seven hits.
He finished the week in Florida with a 2-0 overall record and a 1.29 earned run average. He has 13 strikeouts and just three walks in 14 innings of work and opponents are hitting just .216 against him.
