2012 Season - Vikings picked for fifth in CCIW softball

Veteran head coach Kris Kistler's Augustana softball team was tabbed for fifth in the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin pre-season coaches' poll.

The softball coaches in the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin have tabbed coach Kris Kistler’s Augustana club for fifth place in 2012. The Vikings, who finished 19-19 overall in 2011 and 5-9 in conference play, received 25 points in the annual pre-season poll. North Central was selected as the favorite, receiving six first-place votes and 47 points.

Carthage, which received the other two first-place votes, was picked for second with 38 points, followed by defending regular season champion Millikin (34) and Illinois Wesleyan (33). After Augustana, Wheaton (23), Elmhurst (17) and North Park (seven) rounded out the poll.
