2011-12 Season - Regnier's fourth in 200 fly leads way

Junior Emma Regnier finished fourth in the 200 butterfly Friday at the Grinnell Invitational in Grinnell, Iowa. Augustana sits in eighth place after the first day of competition.

GRINNELL, Iowa - Facing tough competition, the Augustana women's swimming & diving team scored 130 points to finish the first day of the Grinnell Invitational on Friday, January 20 in eighth place. The Vikings scored 130 point in the 11-team event with the final day of competition set for Saturday, January 21.

Junior Emma Regnier (Grayslake North HS, Lake Villa, Ill.) had the best individual performance for head coach Scott Johannsen's team. She was fourth in the 200 butterfly with a time of 2:24.40 after recording a time of 2:23.28 in the preliminary round.

Regnier was also on the 800 freestyle relay team that placed ninth in 8:40.39. She was joined by junior Molly Clennon (Benet Academy, Naperville, Ill.), sophomore Erin Doty (Oswego HS, Oswego, Ill.) and freshman Laura Pemberton (Westosha Central HS, Salem, Wis.).

Sophomore Helen Myers (Pecatonica HS, Rock City, Ill.) placed sixth in the one meter diving event with a score of 351.05.

The 200 freestyle relay team of Clennon, Regnier, junior Alexandra Piper (Coal City HS, Coal City, Ill.) and sophomore Hillary Ferguson (Neuqua Valley HS, Naperville, Ill.) was 12th in 1:46.28. The Vikings got points from Pemberton and junior Emily Timmons (West Aurora HS, North Aurora, Ill.) in the 200 breaststroke. Pemberton was 19th in 2:47.05 and Timmons took 20th in 2:48.12. Clennon also scored with a 20th place in the 100 freestyle in :58.91.
