2011-12 Season - Regnier wins three events in Coe win

Alexandra Piper won two individual events and swam on the winning 200 freestyle relay as Augustana defeated Coe 142-95 on Friday, January 13 in the Carver Center.

ROCK ISLAND, Ill. - Fueled by three swimmers who won at least two events each, Augustana scored a 142-95 win over Coe in women's swimming & diving on Friday, January 13 in the Carver Center Pool. The Vikings won nine of the 13 events on the evening.

Junior Emma Regnier (Grayslake North HS, Lake Villa, Ill.) was a triple winner to lead the way. She took the 200 individual medley in 2:22.80, won the 100 butterfly in 1:04.01 and the 100 breaststroke in 1:13.90.

Junior Alexandra Piper (Coal City HS, Coal City, Ill.) took first in the 50 (:26.64) and 100 (:57.86) freestyle events. She also swam the third leg on the 200 freestyle relay that turned in a winning time of 1:48.79. She was joined on that winning relay by junior Molly Clennon (Benet Academy, Naperville, Ill.), sophomore Erin Doty (Oswego HS, Oswego, Ill.) and sophomore Hillary Ferguson (Waubonsie Valley HS, Naperville, Ill.).

Clennon won the 200 freestyle in 2:06.45 and the 500 freestyle in 5:37.95. Doty took fourth in the 200 freestyle (2:14.36) and the 500 freestyle in 5:53.25. Ferguson placed third in the 50 freestyle (:27.00) and the 100 freestyle (1:01.13).

Sophomore Helen Myers (Pecatonica HS, Rock City, Ill.) accounted for the other Augustana victory when she won the one meter diving with 200.85 points. She placed third on the three meter board with 210.60 points.

Junior Emily Timmons (West Aurora HS, North Aurora, Ill.) was second in the 1000 freestyle (11:51.34), second in the 200 individual medley (2:26.35) and third in the 500 freestyle (5:46.91). Junior Mary Naughton (Fremont HS, Fremont, Neb.) placed second in the 100 backstroke (1:11.17) and fourth in the 50 freestyle (:27.70). Freshman Laura Pemberton (Fremont HS, Fremont, Neb.) finished third in the 1000 freestyle (12:26.36), fourth in the 100 freestyle (1:02.28) and fourth in the 100 breaststroke (1:19.30).

Sophomore Danna Jensen (Dundee-Crown HS, Algonquin, Ill.) was third in the 100 butterfly with a time of 1:12.61 and fourth in the 1000 freestyle in 12:39.81. Sophomore Elizabeth O'Hara (Westosha Central HS, Salem, Wis.) finished third in the 100 breaststroke in 1:18.86. Freshman Beth Cole (Muscatine HS, Muscatine, Iowa) took third in the 100 backstroke (1:12.80) and sophomore Catherine Pittman (Mahomet-Seymour HS, Mahomet, Ill.) was fourth in the same event with a time of 1:16.81.

The 200 medley relay team of Cole, O'Hara, freshman Alexis Thompson (Crystal Lake Central HS, Lake-in-the-Hills, Ill.) and Naughton grabbed second in 2:09.16.

Augustana is now 2-1 in dual meets and will compete in a dual meet against Luther on Saturday, January 14 in Decorah, Iowa.
