Immersed in hydroecology

Hydroecology was offered as 10-week "immersion term" for fall 2010. Students took just the one class for the entire term.

The course was taught by by Dr. Reuben Heine of geography and Dr. Kevin Geedey of biology. In addition to classroom time, trips to Cincinnati and Chicago and interviews with the Environmental Protection Agency, they used Augustana's two "floating classrooms" on the Mississippi River. Students got hands-on experience in hydrology, aquatic biology, geology, and water resource management.

In these photos, they take water samples and seine for samples of fish and other aquatic life.
