2010 Season - Volleyball splits in final day at Benedictine

Freshman Katrina Colclusure had 23 setting assists on Saturday at the Benedictine Tournament and recorded four service aces in a 3-1 victory over Purdue-Calumet.

BENEDICTINE 3, AUGUSTANA 0 (25-16; 28-26; 25-14)
After losing the first game 25-16, Augustana put up quite a fight in game two only to fall 28-26. In game three Benedictine won 25-14 to take the match 3-0.

Senior Courtney Jungnickel (Naperville Central HS, Naperville, Ill.) led the team with nine kills with three service aces and nine digs. Freshman Kristen Yerkes (Marist HS, Palos Heights, Ill.) put down seven kills with six digs, two service aces and a setting assist.

Sophomore Kelsey Mikula (Coal City HS, Coal City, Ill.) recorded 11 setting assists with two digs and freshman Katrina Colclasure (Tri-Valley HS, Bloomington, Ill.) had nine assists with four digs. Sophomore Shannon Slick (Rockton Hononegah HS, Roscoe, Ill.) led the team in digs with 11. Sophomore Sarah Williams (Rockford Lutheran HS, Rockford, Ill.) had three total blocks (one solo and two assists) to go along with two kills.

AUGUSTANA 3, PURDUE-CALUMET 1 (21-25; 25-18; 25-16; 25-18)
It took a while for the Vikings to get started but once they got going, they rolled to a 3-1 victory over Purdue-Calumet in the morning session of the Benedictine Tournament on Saturday, October 30. Purdue-Calumet won the first game 25-21 but Augustana bounced back with a 25-18 victory in game two and followed that with wins of 25-16 and 25-18 to take the match.

Senior Courtney Jungnickel (Naperville Central HS, Naperville, Ill.) posted 17 kills with four service aces, 14 digs, one assisted block and one setting assist. Freshman Kristen Yerkes (Marist HS, Palos Heights, Ill.) came up big with nine kills, five digs and a service ace. Freshman Anna Rusch (Davenport Central HS, Davenport, Iowa) had played in one match all season but she saw action in three of the four games and wound up with seven kills, two digs and a setting assist.

Sophomore Kelsey Mikula (Coal City HS, Coal City, Ill.) had 20 setting assists, five digs and one service ace while freshman Katrina Colclasure (Tri-Valley HS, Bloomington, Ill.) put up 14 setting assists, four service aces and six digs. Sophomore Shannon Slick (Rockton Hononegah HS, Roscoe, Ill.) had 12 digs and two service aces.
